Undivided Privacy Policy

Effective: August 5, 2026 Updated: September 9, 2026. Clarified that a drive record's pickup count includes pickups while stopped in traffic, such as at a red light, as well as while moving. Phone use while parked, before the drive starts or at the final stop, is still never recorded. Nothing new is collected or backed up.

September 3, 2026: Added anonymous usage counts (item 6 under "What leaves your device"), which you can turn off in Settings.

September 1, 2026: Added speed to the list of what stays on your device: a drive record now keeps how fast the car was moving at the moment you picked the phone up. It is saved on your phone only, it is deliberately left out of the account backup, and a shared mileage export carries it only while you leave Include speed detail switched on. No top speed is recorded. Previously (August 21) added flower arrangements to the backup list: if you build a Flower Vase, the recipient nickname and the card message you type are stored with the rest of your Plus data and are erased when you delete your account. They are never shared with anyone and never read from your contacts or calendar. Previously (August 14) clarified that cloud backup and cross-device history require both Undivided Plus and a signed-in Undivided account; free and guest use remains local to the phone.

Your personal data (focus sessions, activities, streaks, and drive records) is stored on your device first. Our servers are involved only for optional Undivided Plus account backup and for generating audio and coaching content. This policy explains exactly what leaves your device and your choices.

What stays on your device

• Focus sessions, activities, streaks, goals, settings, themes are stored in the app's local storage on your iPhone.
• Motion and location readings: drive detection and hands-free credit are computed entirely on-device. Raw motion and location data (coordinates, routes, speed traces) are never transmitted anywhere.
• Speed: each drive record keeps the speed you were going at the moment you picked the phone up. No top speed is recorded, and nothing about how fast you drive generally is kept anywhere: this app measures phone use, not driving. That figure is saved on your phone only. It is included in a mileage export only while Include speed detail is on, which you can turn off before you share the file; that export then goes wherever you send it. It is deliberately left out of the account backup, so speed never reaches our servers and never travels to your other devices on its own. No coordinates, no route, and no map of where you went is recorded alongside it. Speed is a measurement, not an assessment: the app does not determine who was holding the phone, who was driving, or whether any law was broken, and it applies no safety threshold of its own.
• Your voice: when you answer the drive companion by voice, speech is recognized on-device using Apple's speech framework. The microphone is active only during short listening windows, audio is never recorded or transmitted, and nothing you say leaves the phone.
• Notifications are scheduled locally on your phone; no push servers.

What leaves your device

1. Account sign-in. Undivided uses Firebase Authentication (a Google service) to create your account (including guest sessions). Firebase processes your email address and issues the sign-in token. See Google's Firebase privacy documentation for their handling.
2. Account backup (signed-in Plus members). So your data can follow you to a new phone, the app backs up exactly seven things, and nothing else: your activities, your focus sessions, your app settings, your badges, your Collection progress, your flower arrangements (the vessel and bouquet you chose, how many credits have gone into it, the recipient nickname you typed and the message you wrote on its card — typed by you, never read from your contacts, and never sent to anyone but your own backup), and your drive summaries (date, duration, distance, hands-free credit, how many times the phone was picked up in traffic (moving or stopped at a light) plus how long it was in use, and — if you choose to set one — a driver or passenger label you typed by tapping, never coordinates, routes, speed, or any map of where you went).

The backup runs automatically. It happens when you open the app, when you leave it, and shortly after you finish a drive or a focus session, so you never have to press anything. Settings still offers a "Sync now" button and shows when the last backup finished.

What is never backed up and stays on your phone only: which episodes you have listened to, and any notes or articles you add for reading aloud. Free and guest use backs up nothing.

Backups are private to your account and are erased from our server when you delete your account in the app.

1. Drive audio (podcasts, briefings, stories, and books). When you request an episode, the app sends your sign-in token and your content choices (category, voice, style) to our server, which generates the audio from public news feeds and our own catalog. We keep a daily request counter to enforce usage limits. We do not build a profile of what you listen to; your play history is stored on your phone.
2. Listen to Anything and read-aloud. When you ask for a summary or cloud voice for an article or document you provide, the app sends that text to our server, which processes it transiently to produce your summary or audio. Our server never visits the link itself, and the text is not stored, not shared, and not used to train models. Full-article read-aloud uses the on-device voice, so the article never leaves your phone.
3. AI Focus Coach (Undivided Plus). Six moments in the app can ask our server for a short coaching note. Each one sends your sign-in token and the same block of eight aggregate values: total focus hours, focus streak length, sessions this week, your best day's name (e.g. "Tue"), how many activities you completed today, how many drives you have recorded, your lifetime hands-free miles, and your safe-drive streak in days. Three of those are drive numbers. A request with no use for part of the block sends zeros there instead of reading your data. On top of the block, each moment adds only what its note is about: your weekly recap (fetched once a week when you open Insights, or when you tap "Get this week's coaching") also sends back up to five of the coach's own recent notes, shortened, so the new one does not repeat them; a badge note adds the badge you unlocked; the "Month in review" caption adds your month's hours, sessions, and active days; the note after a finished focus session adds that session's length and how many times you picked up your phone during it; a drive-milestone note adds your hands-free miles, safe-drive streak, and hands-free drives this week; and activity ideas add the goal you picked from our list, your usual session length, and up to fifteen ideas the coach itself has already suggested, so it does not offer them again. Nothing else is included: no location, coordinates, or routes, no dates or times, no individual focus session or drive record, none of your activity names, and nothing you typed.

1. Anonymous usage counts. The app sends a small number of usage events to Firebase Analytics (a Google service) so we can see which screens are used and where people stop, for example "onboarding completed", "paywall shown", or "drive saved". Each event carries only a fixed label and a random per-install identifier: never your name, email, location, speed, audio, article text, activity names, or anything you typed. We do not use the advertising identifier and Google's advertising features are off. Turn it off anytime in Settings under Your data; the switch takes effect immediately.

The website and support requests

The Undivided website (focusvault.link) sets no cookies and uses no analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind.

When you submit a support request on the website, we collect what you type (your email address, an optional name, a topic, and your message) plus your IP address, which is used only to limit abuse of the form. This information is used solely to answer your request, is never sold or shared, and is deleted when no longer needed for support. You can ask us to delete it at any time using the contact details below.

What we never do

• No ads. No advertising or tracking SDKs. No data brokers. The only analytics is the anonymous, opt-out usage count described in item 6.
• We never sell or share your personal data.
• We never send your raw location, your voice, or your article text anywhere except as described above, and we do not use your data to train AI models.

Purchases

Subscriptions are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app deletes all locally stored data. To delete your account (and with it the sign-in record, account backup, and rate-limit counters), use Settings → Account → Delete Account in the app, or contact us using the contact details below.

Children

Undivided is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from them. Kids mode is a content filter operated by the account holder; it collects nothing from children.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we'll note it in the App Store release notes and update the effective date above.
